Jody, the New Sustainability Commissioner was not in attendance, but her introduction was not necessary as all in attendance were acquainted with her already.
The Eavestrough project - is currently awaiting a write-up to be sent to Physical Plant in order to obtain a quote. Drawings have been made for the request. Once a quote is given, it can be taken to the board and funding can be requested.
Repainting the Building - is currently awaiting a Request For Proposals document to be written by Greg. This will be distributed around Thunder Bay (through DefSup) and around the campus (through Visual Arts department). From there, tenders will be appraised as they become available and once an artist is chosen, it can be taken to board and funding can be requested. The vision for the building is cycling- and skiing- specific artwork, featuring both "community spokes" and "northern telemark ski school" painted on the side.
Changing the Storage facility - was discussed but no conclusions were made as there was discrepancy as to the need to change it at all, and the effectiveness of the proposed plan.
Tire Rack and Company Bike - are ongoing projects funded by CS itself. Necessary items will be purchased as money comes available. The company bike will be designed to transport our tools and repair stands for out-of-shop events.
Calendar of Events - Dates were solidified for all of our events during Fall Term, and can be seen here. Courteous Mass has aimed at being hosted on the 3rd Friday of every month, maintaining a sense of community by meeting at intercity mall. All other events hosted by CS will start and end at CS. Stay tuned for posters as they come up. Shake the Shack was the only planned fundraiser, which will be on September 13th, and involve a group ride, barbeque and outdoor movie.
Advertising - Business cards were decided to have inaccurate information, in regards to the description of our services, and we resolved to change them. They must be changed before being sent out into the community, at various business locations to be distributed by those business. Changes shall be a description more about our education and outreach program rather than our free services. Posters are being made by Greg, for all events.
New Shop Hours - will hopefully consist of Friday mornings again, with the addition of a Ladies and Queers night hosted by Emese, sometime after she's comfortable with her bike-repair skills; a timeslot for Kairos sometime during the supper hour, but arrangements are still being made; a volunteer day, on Sunday; and a time for maintaining the BikesToGo fleet. It was discuess and agreed upon that, due to the increased activity in CS, that a request should be put in to Sustainability for more paid hours of the coodinator. To be written by Emese, and signed by all interested parties.
Other Business - the saftey deposit box has arrived, is in use, and will hold all of CS's money in the Sustainbility Office. An $11 float will be held in the donation tub to accomodate making change. No getting robber for us!
Another meeting may be scheduled for mid term, bu otherwise, the next meeting will be a wrap-up in April. There will be pizza!
